Yay it's (almost) summer! That means refreshing, light, and crisp flavors. June also means Green Vibrance is on sale (woo hoo we love Green Vibrance!!). This smoothie is sweet but with the refreshing and summery twist of adding our own homegrown basil. Basil is actually a member of the mint family. I don't know about you, but mint always makes me think FRESH! Best of all, this recipe is simple.
Why is basil an amazing smoothie addition (other than the taste and smell)? It has exceptional antioxidant properties as well as anti-inflammatory benefits. Some say basil is integral in treating arthritis naturally. Basil has also been noted for being antibacterial and has been shown to block some bacteria, including some which have become resistant to antibiotics. It's also a good source of magnesium, which can help improve circulation.
1 scoop of Green Vibrance
1/4 cup each: raspberries, blueberries, blackberries
5-6 fresh basil leaves or to taste
1 tbsp honey
Cinnamon to taste
1.5 cups water
Blend until smooth and enjoy. Add a fresh sprig of basil for a nice garnish.
