This raw, nutrient dense, and delicious smoothie will have you in awe at how great you can feel! I formulated this smoothie for a healthy mind and body looking for a detox with vital nutrients. This smoothie had me feeling full all morning and into the afternoon, plus I felt strong and energized. I used the superfood power of daikon, kale, chia seeds, and Green Vibrance to achieve this effect.
Have you heard of Daikon? This Japanese superfood radish has been on my radar for many reasons. It's the white vegetable pictured above between the berries and kale. It's a dense vegetable that has a slight spiciness but mostly neutral taste and so many wonderful benefits to your health which makes this smoothie a complete meal.
Daikon is …
1. High in Vitamin C & B-6.
2. Contains many phytochemicals like indoles which are detoxifying agents as well as zea-xanthin, lutein and beta carotene, which are flavonoid antioxidants.
3. Digestive aid that helps the body process proteins, oil, fat, and carbs.
4. Helps the kidneys discharge excess water.
5. Helps dissolve mucus and phlegm to aid the respiratory system.
6. Helps prevent the formation of dangerous chemicals and carcinogens inside the body.
7. Excellent source of calcium.
8. Helps the liver process toxins.
9. Helps eliminate colon waste.
10. Also an excellent source of potassium, iron, copper, sulfur, phosphorus, and fiber.
Wow, so much health in one little white radish! Now, on to the kale, which is more popular in the smoothie world. Kale is packed with potassium, manganese, and vitamins A, K, and C so, its popularity is no surprise. Chia seeds are also up and coming as well. This is because of Chia's high fiber, protein, Omega 3's, calcium, manganese, magnesium, and phosphorus content.

Detox Berry Superfood Smoothie Ingredients:
1 cup raw daikon radish
1 scoop Green Vibrance
1/2 cup almond or coconut milk
1 ripe banana
1 cup raw kale
1 cup mixed frozen berries
1 tablespoon chia seeds
1/2 cup strawberries for fruit on the bottom and top (optional)
1/2 cup coconut flakes with fruit on the bottom and top (optional)
I used a Vitamix to blend this smoothie but any blender will work.
Vitamix: Place all ingredients into blender and blend well on 6 and 8 for 3 min.
Standard blender: Add non-diary milk, green vibrance, chia seeds, frozen fruit, and banana. Blend well for 2 min. While that is blending cut up the Daikon into slices. Add Daikon and kale to blender. Blend well for 3 min.
I added frozen strawberries and coconut flakes to the bottom of my mason jar. Poured the smoothie over it. Then added more frozen strawberries and coconut flakes on top.
This smoothie tastes great alone, it's all about customizing it to what you like so you enjoy it the most.
