Spring Rejuvenation Smoothie

Spring has officially sprung and we couldn't be happier. It seems that despite the lingering tendencies of winter everyone in the Vibrant Health office has put the down jackets to rest and embraced the spring vibe. I found this recipe on preventdisease.com, who originally got it from rawforbeauty.com. Of course, I made a few small changes (some might say improvements).

The Spring Rejuvenation Smoothie will energize you, while clearing your mind and infusing your body with all kinds of antioxidant benefits. This smoothie is an excellent hair and skin tonic. #vibrantrecipes

The idea behind the Spring Rejuvenation Smoothie is to energize you, while clearing your mind and infusing your body with all kinds of antioxidant benefits. This smoothie is an excellent hair and skin tonic. Here's why:

Chia seeds provide omega 3's, which benefit your skin by strengthening cell membranes' barriers that allow water and nutrients in while keeping toxins out.

Maca is said to strengthen hair and reduce hair loss. Also due to its hormone regulating properties, maca has been used to clear acne.

We have discussed previously the wealth of benefits one may expect from curcuminoids (orange pigments in turmeric) including: anti-inflammatory, anti-viral, anti-bacterial, and anti-fungal properties. It's also been said to help with digestion, blood purification, and as a skin tonic.

Coconut Oil's hair and skin benefits mostly come from its topicial use, but ingesting coconut oil can aid digestion and boost energy as well as speed the healing of fungal infections. Also taking it internally has been said to help remineralize teeth.

Mangoes & Blackberries are both rich in Vitamin C and antioxidants, which help keep your skin healthy and glowing. Mangoes are rich in vitamins and minerals that nourish and promote hair growth.

Cinnamon is also known to promote hair growth, but used more topically for that purpose. Try mixing a little cinnamon and coconut oil together for a great scalp treatment. In this smoothie it adds to the anti-inflammatory nature of it as well as of course, great flavor.

Ingredients:

1 cup coconut milk

1/2 cup frozen mango chunks

1/4 cup blackberries

1 banana

1 tbsp coconut oil

1-2 Maximized Curcuminoid tablets
